ABOUT SPORTS BOARD

The Sports Board, Tripura University was set up in the year 1998. There are 52 men, women, co-educational & Educational Colleges affiliated to the University. Tripura University Sports Committee has been formed to guide, frame policy and co-ordinate the sports activities. In order to encourage sports activities of the rural and small colleges, Sports Board functions under the overall control and supervision of University Assistant Director of Physical Education. The Sports Board is located in the Tripura University near by University Bridge.

Our aim Excellence in Sports

The main objective of the Sports Board is to foster sportsman spirit inculcating sense of discipline, co-operation, social harmony, integrity and fitness among the players. Sports Board feels concerned about the health and fitness of Tripura University employees also and organizes a physical fitness festival for them every year. Employees participate in games like football, volleyball, table-tennis, badminton, cricket, tug of war and athletics. The participation of the University employees is always encouraging. It has proved to be a very useful scheme for the university employees. The Sports Board organizes games and sports in the affiliated colleges and to raise University teams in various disciplines for Intervarsity, Combined University, World University and other tournament.

ACTIVITIES OF TRIPURA UNIVERSITY SPORTS BOARD:

Every year various Sports & Games are conducted by Tripura University Sports Board among the University Students, like Inter Department Football, Volleyball, and Cricket Competition. Annual Sports & Indoor Games. A large number of students, Teachers, and non-teaching staff participated in these Competitions. Every year we are conducting Tournaments in various events like Football, Cricket, Volleyball Judo, Table Tennis and Athletics among the affiliated Colleges under Tripura University and participating in East Zone/All India Inter University Competitions.

Interdepartmental Indoor Games Competition:

ORGANISATION OF INTER COLLEGE TOURNAMENTS:

In the year 2012 – 2013 Inter college Tournaments in the following events were organized.

VI Inter College Football (Men) competitions, Organized by Khumulwng Govt. Degree College w.e.f. 10th Sept, to 15th Sept.2012.All together Twenty Colleges participated in the Competition. The College authority has taken all possible effort for smooth Organisation of the Tournament and they successfully Ornanise the Tournament.
RESULT OF FOOTBALL COMPETITION: Champion :- Khumulwng College. Runners-up : B.B.M.C. 3rd position : M.B.B. College. 4th position : N.S.M. Udaipur.
VI Inter College Table Tennis (M & W ), Yoga (M & W ) & Volleyball (M) Competition, Organized by Tripura University, w.e.f. 19th to 21st Feb, 2013. 11 affiliated Colleges participated in the Competition.
Result for Table Tennis:
Men team Championship : Champion- AGMC. Runners up- M.B.B. College
Women Team Championship: Champion Tripura University. Runners up- TIPS
Men Singles: Champion : Daipayan Datta, AGMC. Runners up- Rajib Majumdar, ICVS
Women Singles: Champion- Manidipa Basak, TU. Runners up- Sangita Debbarma, TU.
Result for YOGA: Team Championship. Men: Champion- ICVS. Runners up- RTC.
Women: Champion- ICVS. Runners- TU.
Men’s Individual: 1st: Priyatam Nath, ICVS. 2nd : Abdul Rasid, ICVS. 3rd : Hira Lal Debbarma, ICVS.
Women’s Individual 1st : Suchanda Chowdhury ICVS. 2nd : Rinki Paul :- ICVS. 3rd : Jhuma Sarkar. ICVS.
RESULT FOR VOLLEYBALL:
Champion - M.B.B. College. Runners-up - I.C.V.S., Belonia
All India Inter University Tournaments :
(i) This year our Athletics Men & Women team participated in All India Inter University Athletic Competition organised by University of Kalyani w.e.f. 22nd January to 26th January, 2013. The performance of our Athletes was not satisfactory.
(ii) This year Our University Organised East Zone Inter University Volleyball (Men) Competition. We successfully organised the tournament. There are 24 Universities participated in the Competition.
